Prospective Players and Parents,
Welcome to the 2009-2010 Prescott High School
Hockey program. It is with great excitement that I look forward to another
successful and fulfilling season of hockey in the greater Prescott area. As the
new head coach for the varsity program I would like to take this opportunity to
introduce myself, introduce the staff, and provide a brief overview of my
coaching values and expectations for the upcoming season.
The coaching staff that we have put together
this year is anxious to get started. All coaches and managers involved in the
program are unpaid volunteers. As appropriate, please express your gratitude to
these dedicated individuals who contribute countless hours to the development of
our youth. As required by the Arizona High School Hockey Association (AHSHA),
all coaches currently meet or will soon meet the required coaching certification
level.

The core values that I embrace and expect
players to embrace are DUTY, RESPECT and INTEGRITY. The team handbook addresses
rules, expectations, and player/parent code of conduct. On the ice, I believe
in hard work, discipline, defense, and sound fundamentals. Players who
understand and appreciate an environment structured around these principles are
sure to have a fun and lasting experience with equitable playtime and attention
from the coaching staff. If for any reason you feel you are unable to commit to
these values and philosophies please dont waste my time or the time of those
dedicated to the team.
As with any youth sport, a successful season is
contingent upon respectful communication, cooperation and dedication from
player, parent and coach. I am committed to providing those involved with a
rewarding and challenging experience in this truly great sport. The Prescott
High School Hockey Program recognizes the value of family and school related
activities. We understand conflicts will occur throughout the season and we
will work with players to mitigate them as appropriate. I will however not
compete with other hockey programs. Players choosing to be a part of this team
must put the Prescott Storm first in their list of hockey priorities.
I thank you in advance for conducting yourself
in a manner with the utmost respect for sportsmanship and love of youth sport.
Sincerely,
Jeffery J. Andrews
